Frigel: An industry searching for the answer

As we set our sights on NPE this year, processors around the world are seeking the answer to cost savings, new ways to approach operations, new products to improve energy efficiency and ways to affordably be more environmentally friendly.

But finding those answers isn’t enough. It’s not only about bettering the future —but about making a difference today. Frigel has spent the last 20 years developing a system that will start making a difference for processors the moment they start using it.

But it is more than a system. And much more than a product. What Frigel brings to the industry is a whole new philosophy. A new way of thinking about process cooling systems and improving processors’ competitive advantage.

Intelligent process cooling is not your every day cooling system. It has significant impact on lowering a facility’s energy bill, reducing water consumption to negligible levels and improving cycle times to the tune of 20%. And it may be the first time processors have been able to leverage a process cooling system as a way to outperform the competition.

Intelligent process cooling

Frigel’s philosophy—that process cooling should do more for its users—is brought to life in the Ecodry system. In a category all it’s own, the Ecodry represents intelligent process cooling, delivering answers to your questions, and advantages that were never possible with traditional cooling tower systems.

Many manufacturers are still using outdated, inefficient process cooling methods—perhaps without realizing the enormous, positive impact Intelligent Process Cooling can have on their companies’ bottom line.

The key is a unique closed-loop design that dramatically reduces water use and keeps cooling water clean with minimal chemical treatment. The result: substantial savings on water, chemicals, energy and maintenance costs.

Those same attributes produce environmental benefits, virtually eliminating the release of contaminated water and chemicals and helping ensure regulatory compliance. Best of all, the Ecodry system enables manufacturing processes to be run longer without interruption, increasing output and improving cycle time.

Intelligent design

What makes the Ecodry philosophy smarter begins with a closed-circuit fluid cooler, in place of a traditional cooling tower. The water returning from the process is pumped into heat exchangers and cooled with ambient air flow. This process provides clean water at the right temperature to process machines year round.

The result is a modular, flexible, pre-engineered system that promises the best performance, lowest operating cost and highest reliability for installation anywhere.

Ecodry used in conjunction with a Microgel (chiller/TCU combo) or Turbogel (TCU), replaces the need for central chilling systems and gives you infinite temperature variation for your molds.

A single set of uninsulated pipes supplies the process water, without heat gain, to a Microgel or a Turbogel at each machine. These units offer high flow, precise temperature control and a built-in "free cooling" valve that provides automatic free cooling when ambient temperatures are lower than process setpoint.

By controlling flow and temperature at the point of use, energy is conserved. Most importantly, process parameters can be optimized to reduce the ΔT across the mold, making parts most effectively and thus lowering cycle time. Because of the intelligent system design and control scheme, these claims can only be made of Frigel Microgel and Turbogel units and will not transfer to other industry chillers and TCUs.

The intelligent choice

Higher productivity. Shorter cycles. Near-zero contamination. Lower costs. That’s the philosophy behind Intelligent Process Cooling. In nearly every parameter, Frigel delivers its customer the power to outperform.
