NPE Advisor2009

Your guide to NPE2009
The International Plastics Showcase
McCormick Place, Chicago, June 22-26

NPE Advisor is your comprehensive guide to NPE2009. With no less than eight other events colocated with it, and an impressive showcase of exhibitors and specialized expos, the 2009 edition will be by far the most comprehensive plastics industry event of the year. You have to be there. The NPE Advisor will connect you with everything from who's exhibiting to how to register, from how to find a place to stay in Chicago to how to get around while you're there--both inside the show and when you're out on that toddlin' town. Canon Communications, publisher of Modern Plastics Worldwide and Injection Molding Magazine, is teaming up with the Society of the Plastics Industry, which organizes NPE, to get you prepared for the show. The show will be a great event. Our objective is to make your NPE2009 experience all that it can be.

FEATURES
  • NPE2009: Springboard to a recovery? Might be.
Chicago, IL—It is almost impossible to gauge a trade show’s value while it is in progress, let alone determine the payback time, but based on hundreds of talks and meetings with the editorial staff of PlasticsToday—composed of the staffs of Modern Plastics Worldwide and Injection Molding Magazine—and exhibitors at NPE2009, the decision to exhibit in this not-inexpensive town in what are decidedly difficult economic conditions was well worth it.
  • NPE buzz continued: Show better than expected, but bank (non-)lending still a big issue
Chicago, IL—Many exhibitors went into last week’s NPE2009 show in Chicago with a healthy dose of apprehension, but in fact the event proved a winner for most, including Monika Gneuß of screen changer manufacturer Gneuß Inc. (Matthews, NC).
  • More NPE: Macro, Kiefel, and Gloucester announce extruder, winder sales
Many film-extrusion equipment exhibitors at NPE2009 said that quoting activity had risen in recent weeks, and for several, purchase orders are trickling in as well, including deals announced at NPE and ones consummated just prior.
TECHNOLOGY UPDATE
  • At busy NPE, Conair books almost $2 million
Chicago, IL—Exhibitors are virtually unanimous that NPE2009 is a good show, but auxiliaries supplier Conair (Cranberry Twp., PA) had solid proof of that before the show was half over.
  • Fresh from NPE, Haitian launches stimulus plan
Absolute Haitian’s (Worcester, MA) followup to what the company’s Glenn Frohring told PlasticsToday was a very successful show is an aggressive pricing program that can cut up to 30% off the already lower-priced Haitian machines. Mike Ortolano of Absolute Haitian says this creates a unique pricing tier in the market, falling between that of used machines and lower-priced new presses.
